“As students have short concentration during online teaching, it is important to draw their attention constantly. In my opinion, alternating activities can keep students’ attention. Quiz, Discussion, Pitching are examples of activities that can be included in the class to keep the students active. Besides changing activities regularly during the class, I think teaching a small number of students can also increase participation of the students and enhance communication between lecturers and students.
I’m currently using 3 platforms for my class: Zoom for live teaching, PIM e-Learning for learning materials and Line for communication with the students. I think that these 3 platforms create an interactive and more flexible learning experience for the students. Firstly, the screen sharing function on Zoom allows me to annotate while showing my PowerPoint so students can follow me in real-time. It also provides the possibility for students to share their ideas through pitching. Secondly, the learning materials are uploaded on PIM e-Learning platform so the students can study in their free time. Lastly, students and I also interact through Line. As Line is part of our daily life, it is very fast and easy for us to communicate and discuss if there are any concerns.”
