H.E. Mr. Jon Thorgaard, Ambassador, Embassy of Denmark was introduced to the work-based education model by PIM on 20 September 2022. The executive team led by President Assoc.Prof.Dr. Sompop Manarungsan shared the beginnings of the Institute that rooted from the appeal to develop competent young men and women to join the operations of 7-Eleven in Thailand.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Sompop added that PIM has grown to establish 37 degree programs, 2 of which are international business programs (Bachelor and Master’s) delivered in English.
Mr. Siam Choksawangwong said that CP’s global operations aims to change people’s lives as the company is sincere to drive sustainability in all communities it is present in.
H.E. Mr. Jon commended PIM on its management principles particularly in sustainability. He said he feels that the CP Group’s mission is on the same page with Denmark’s overarching goal in terms of well being in the years to come. H.E. Mr. Jon also mentioned that the mission in Bangkok wants to boost start-ups as a form of international outreach.
To that, Dr. Usanee Kulintornprasert, Director, Office of International Relations replied that PIM promotes the perception of a global citizen with PIM being a platform for international mobility through various methods including the long-term partnership with NHL Stenden, a Dutch university known to attract international students consistently.
The discussion also involved agriculture, awareness for the green transition specifically bringing value to traditional waste. The visit included a campus tour and lunch at the Chef’s Kitchen, a restaurant managed by PIM’s faculty and students.
