PIM has a network of educational partnerships with 222 universities around the world and therefore many foreign exchange students come to study here, like ‘Lai Yi – Ching, a lovely student from Shih Chien University, one of our network universities. Let’s get to know more about her.
My university has signed a contract with PIM for the exchange student program. I’ve been here for about one month. I’m here to join IMTM departments as an exchange student for one semester and have an internship in the International Relations office at the same time.
PIM got the resources of having cooperation and active relationship with several enterprises, which is useful for students to gain practical experiences, especially students who major in international business as I do. In addition, students and professors have a nice relationship and have well interaction during the lecture, which makes the lecture more fun
For me, IMTM is a multicultural study environment, we are able to make cultural exchange and sharing different ideas and experiences, especially doing the group assignment in class. We have two assignments for this semester. One is doing the research and another one is for the business case. Assignments are in the group projects. I think the benefit of doing research and case study, is that we can be more familiar with the business model and how the company promotes its projects. Our business case this semester is about the PTTGC, which is the company under PTT gasoline. Through the case study and guests speaking section, I could learn more about how the Thai company works, how they expand the business, and how they do the product promotion.
I would say, I want to learn to speak Thai. For me, language is an important part of the culture, and learning Thai could help me integrate into the locals faster. For me, everywhere is a new experience, looking forward to exploring more. I’ve been to Pattaya and Ayutthaya. Pattaya is quite impressive with beautiful beaches and scenery. And we visited PIM EEC as well.
Taiwan is famous for its night market culture, like Thailand’s street foods, almost every city has a night market, which I highly recommend to foreigners to experience. And I recommend Tainan to foreigners because they are well known for foods and desserts, like beef noodles and beef soup, which foreigners like the most.
PIM and Shih Chien University, Republic of China (Taiwan) signed an MOU on November 25, 2015, focusing on cooperation in the exchange of students and personnel mainly. Both sides provide scholarships for student and staff exchange. Free tuition, fees for a bachelor’s degree, which Lai Yi – Ching is the first exchange student with the International College (iMTM) for a period of 6 months.
