A group of 10 students led by two professors from Japan’s Waseda University experienced a short-course program delivered by Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM) on 9 to 15 February 2020. The 1-week program covered a wide range of knowledge areas and activities including Thai language and traditional Thai culture.
Immersion activities were also arranged by PIM, including joint-programs with PIM Demonstration School (Satit PIM) and Pichaya Suksa Elementary School. The Waseda University students introduced the Japanese traditional paper folding (origami) and a popular skill toy (kendama). A kendame consists of a handle, a pair of cups and a ball that are all connected together by a string.
The group also visited Thonburi Bamrungmueng Hospital where the scholars were able to witness the Thai way of medical care by visiting six different laboratories: Digital Dental Center, Aesthetics and Cosmetic Surgery Center, Excellent IVF Center, Heart Center, Jin Wellness Center and Diabetic Wound Care Center.
In culmination, PIM arranged a sightseeing trip to the ancient city of Ayutthaya to experience authentic Siamese culture.
